NOT content with the loss of some 77 car parking places, which are listed already as some of the most crucial in the scheme for the proposed Empress Dome regeneration project, it is now proposed to build a new care home over part of ‘the existing wide roadway and roundabout, previously used for bus turning, and no longer required’ (News Guardian, October 27).
Previously used? No longer required?
The bus turning circle has been used every day since it was built.
On an average day there are 50 bus-turning manoeuvres.
Buses have turned here since the 1930s when they replaced trams – it was a tram terminus more than a century ago.
