A butchers has opened the fourth store in its chain, creating ten new jobs in the process.
The Fat Butcher – which has stores in Shiremoor, Bebside and West Auckland, employing nearly 30 people – has opened a new outlet in the shopping precinct next to Morrisons in North Shields.
Director Dan Miller said they had been able to retain a number of apprentices as new staff while there were plans to open a further 20 outlets in the next two years in the north east, north west and Scotland.
He added: “This fourth store is our largest to date and is in line with our growth plans. This is an exciting time for the group, not only in opening our product to more shoppers, but the opportunity to create not only jobs, but careers within this industry.
“We see huge potential and opportunity in the young people we are currently working with; we appreciate all their hard work and commitment.
“We are able to offer the highest quality meats and very competitive prices, giving value to our loyal customers.”
Dan added: “There will always be a place for a local butcher’s shop in a community – people want to source their meat from somewhere they know and trust.
“The Fat Butcher is a traditional butcher’s shop with traditional values.”
