A Longbenton Air Cadet has enjoyed a party at the palace, after being invited by Her Majesty the Queen as a thank you for the role he has played in the community.

Cadet Warrant Officer Daniel Dotchin, 18, from Benton, has attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.

Daniel was appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Tyne and Wear for 2012/13, and was on parade for the Queen when she visited North Tyneside to open Tyne Tunnel 2 and also greeted The Princess Royal when Tynemouth Station was official opened.

Daniel said: “I was amazed to receive the invite in the post.

“I’d been looking forward to the Garden Party for ages and it lived up to my imagination.”
