Air cadets from Longbenton flew in to join forces with Marks & Spencers to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The youngsters, aged 12 to 19, helped customers at the Metrocentre store by packing bags to raise money for the cancer charity.
A total of £840 was raised.
Louis Baptist, 14, of Benton, said: “M&S has helped us loads in the past and supported us in becoming the Best Air Cadet Squadron in the UK so we jumped at the chance to help them raise funds for Macmillan.
“A lot of us have had family and friends suffer from cancer and it’s not nice, so we were pleased we could help.”
