Campaigners battling against any ‘damaging’ changes to the NHS will be in Wallsend looking for support.
The North Tyneside section of the campaigning group ‘38 Degrees’ is holding a day of action for the NHS.
Members will be in and around Wallsend’s Forum shopping centre between 11am and 2pm on Saturday, February 28.
The main object of the day of action is to collect signatures from the public on a petition to save the NHS.
The petition, which is part of a national action, will be used to lobby parliamentary candidates of all parties standing in the General Election on May 7.
A group spokesperson said: “Our NHS, once called the jewel of our social services, is under immense pressure in these days of government imposed austerity.
“So this is an opportunity for ordinary people to show that they demand that the NHS is protected from political ideological meddling.
“We would like to see as many people as possible to turn out and help collect signatures.”
