A care home is holding a recruitment open day ahead of its opening later this year.
Eothen Homes is creating up to 60 jobs at its new £6.2m, 52-bed specialist dementia care facility in Wallsend, due to open at the end of March.
The open day takes place between 10am and 4pm on January 13, at Wallsend Customer First Centre in The Forum shopping centre.
The new home is taking a non-traditional approach to the care of its residents, and this will be reflected in the type of employees being recruited for the flagship home. In order to ensure residents enjoy the highest quality of life, employee training will be provided by Dementia Care Matters.

Eothen’s operations manager, Christine Hardy, said: “The carers and support staff do not necessarily have to have worked in care homes or have qualifications in the care sector.”
“It’s more about recruiting people with the right values and attitudes who can help make our residents feel occupied, needed and loved.
“People who have worked in care can sometimes be task-focused but we will be providing person-centred care, where the focus is on really connecting with the people living there to create a family environment and relationship-centred support.”
