Care homes to open their doors to community for national event

Five care homes are to open their doors for residents to have a look around.

They are taking part in the sixth annual Care Home Open Day.

HC-One Care Homes will be marking the day with Linking Our Community themed events on Saturday.

Redesdale Court, in North Shields, will be open from 10am to 4pm with a karaoke, entertainment from Michael Stevens and a vintage tea party.

Eastbourne House, in Whitley Bay, will be open from 10am onwards with a local ice cream shop providing a stall, British themed tea trolleys, a picture with the Queen and a display by the local cadet organisation.

Also on Saturday, Arcot Care-run St Anne’s care home, on Whitley Bay seafront, will host an afternoon tea dance for residents and visitors while The Lawns, in Kensington Gardens, Monkseaton, is holding an open morning.

MMCG & Countrywide Care Homes run Earsdon Grange Care Home, located on Thorntree Drive in Wellfield, is opening its doors for a Royal Community Tea party, marking both the open day and Queen’s birthday.

There will be a selection of complimentary afternoon tea cakes, treats and refreshments, and live music on Friday from 1pm to 4pm.
