Cars are damaged while parked in street

Two cars have been damaged in a Whitley Bay street.

The cars had their bodywork scratched on the passenger side while parked in Maple Avenue between 11.30pm on Friday, July 3, and noon the following day.

The offenders left the area without being seen.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are also asking residents to be vigilant and to report anyone acting suspiciously near parked vehicles to ring police straightaway.”
