TYRES have been punctured and windscreens smashed on cars in North Shields over the weekend.
Overnight between Saturday, November 17, and Sunday, November 18, seven cars were damaged, three at Adelphi Close, three at Ambassadors Way, and one at Garrick Close.
All seven cars had their tyres punctured with a sharp implement.
On the same night, two cars at Whitehouse Lane in North Shields had their windscreens smashed.
At this stage it’s not known if the two offences at Whitehouse Lane are linked to the other seven offences and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Neil Brotherton said: “This was completely mindless damage which has left owners frustrated and angry, not to mention the cost implications and inconvenience caused.
“We’re carrying out enquiries to trace the person or people responsible for these offences and would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area overnight on Saturday into Sunday, or anyone with information about who is responsible to get in touch as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 ext 69191, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
