RUNNERS are being invited to go the distance in aid of a North Tyneside charity.
Forest Hall’s Percy Hedley Foundation has secured 320 places for runners fundraising on its behalf in this year’s Bupa Great North Run.
This year’s 13-mile half-marathon from Newcastle to South Shields takes place on Sunday, September 16.
Des Bustard, director of fundraising at the foundation, said: “The Great North Run is a major fundraising event for us, and we are eternally grateful to supporters who take on such a huge personal challenge to raise money for us.
“We really take care of them in our tent at the end, making all their efforts worthwhile.
“Now is the time to sign up and guarantee your place.”
Last year, 160 Percy Hedley Foundation supporters were among the 54,000 runners taking part, raising £40,000.
Maria Hallett, race organiser at the charity, said: “Every penny raised by our runners goes directly to support disabled children, young people, adults and their families.”
