Charity gets nearly £4.7k to help training

A borough charity that works to help disabled people has received a financial boost.

North Tyneside Disability Forum (NTDF) has received £4,699 from MSE Charity to support training.

NTDF’s chief officer Sue Adams said: “The money will make a huge difference.

“Our advice project is incredibly busy and 60 per cent of our service users return for more essential advice or retain contact with us around the broader aspects of life quality needs, sometimes offering their experience and expertise to support others.

“It will help us work with local disabled people to build competence and confidence in aspects of financial literacy.”

Chairwoman Carol Blake added: “This new piece of work, which will start in September and run for a year, will build upon this contact to best supporting the one in four people in the North Tyneside borough who are disabled or chronically sick.

“It will build skills to enable people to cope with changing rights and care provision more effectively.”
