North Tyneside Disability Forum (NTDF) is hoping to secure investment for a community sensory garden initiative at its base in the Shiremoor Resource Centre.

And the charity is hoping to secure funding from Tesco after being shortlisted as one of the Bags of Help project.

Shoppers will get to choose which charity should get funding – either £12k, £10k or £8k – by voting with tokens given out between February 27 and March 6.

NTDF is looking to create an accessible sensory garden in a waste area for everyone to enjoy, especially wheelchair level access and raised beds.

The are also planning gardening classes and outdoor events throughout the spring and summer.

A spokesperson for NTDF said: “This is a fabulous opportunity for NTDF.”
