Charity rock gig a success

Youngsters from a borough school held a rock concert to raise money for charity.

Senior pupils from Kings Priory School in Tynemouth organised and staged their own concert to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The youngsters, aged from nine to 13, spent months perfecting their original songs, as well as covers, for the concert which was organised by year 13 pupils Toby Northrop and Jake Wilkinson.

Director of music, Philip Sanderson, said: “Kings Priory School pupils are encouraged to participate in all genres of music and this celebration of music from country, classic rock, pop and original compositions demonstrated the talent and hard work.

“It was a truly incredible celebration of rock and pop music and local talent.”

The final amount raised by the evening has not been confirmed as donation are still being received.
