A charity aiming to find a cure for one cancer is to hear from experts in the field and discuss their work over the last year.
Wallsend-based The Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund is marking this year’s Action Mesothelioma Day AMD by holding a meeting at Gateshead Civic Centre on Friday, July 3, between 10am and 1.15pm.
The free meeting brings together those suffering with mesothelioma and asbestos disease, along with their carers, health and legal professionals and Trade Unions, for a greater understanding of the disease, possible treatment options as well as current and future research projects.
Experts in all aspects of mesothelioma will be in attendance.
MesobanK’s (Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Tissue and Data Base) chief investigator Dr Robert Rintoul and Beth Sage, both funded by MKMRF, will be giving an insight into exciting and potential ground-breaking research studies.
The north east suffers from one of the highest rates of deaths from mesothelioma.
