Pantrini's, on Whitley Bay seafront, will be among the chip shops marking National Fish and Chips Day.

Panrinis will be marking the occasion at their seafront and Whitley Lodge shopping centre outlets with a week of fun and games, kids competition and special dishes.

They will also be giving away free peas, curry and gravy on the day itself – Friday, June 3 – and free chips between 2pm and 4pm.

Additionally they will be raising money throughout the week for the Fishermens Mission.

Sarah Taylor, of Pantrini’s, said: “We all agree nothing can beat a portion of steaming fresh white fish fried in hot, crispy batter, served with a pile of lip-smacking chips – the only debate is whether you top it with salt, vinegar, sauce, mushy peas or ketchup.

“So celebrate British fish and chips and join in with National Fish & Chip Day on Friday, June 3rd by coming down to Pantrinis and enjoying a good old-fashioned Friday night fish supper.

“To mark the day, we have a lot going on! We have a new delicious fish dish on the menu, free peas, curry and gravy all day plus a week of fun competitions for all the family where you could win free fish and chips for a year.

“Finally we are offering FREE chips between 2pm – 4pm on the big day!!

“I look forward to serving you.”
