Christmas competition certain to be a glass act

HUNDREDS of shoppers have been voting for their favourite festive window displays.

North Tyneside Council’s best-dressed window competition was launched at the start of the month, and more than 200 people have already voted.

This is the first time in the contest’s history that the winners will be decided by a public poll as previously they had been picked by the council. People have until Monday to vote.

Town centre manager John Fleet said: “The response from the public to this Christmas contest has been amazing, but there’s still plenty of time for people to vote, as well as to enter a display.”

All voters will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets for a show at the Playhouse Whitley Bay.

Each of the winners will receive a £50 prize, and runners-up will pick up prizes of £30 or £20.

Shops not yet signed up can still enter by ringing (0191) 643 6419.
