Classic cars are to motor into Whitley Bay for an annual show.

More than 300 cars, ranging from pre-1950s classics to more recent vehicles, have signed up to exhibit at the Whitley Bay Classic Car Show on The Links on Sunday, September 20, from 10am to 3pm.

Cars from yesteryear and around the world will be on show for visitors, including a 1967 D56 Aston Martin, a 1934 Austin, a 1958 Magnette MG, a 1965 Daimler, a 1976 Silver Shadow Rolls Royce and a 1971 series 3 Land Rover.

There will also be a collection of vintage buses from the 1940s to 1970s on display.

Coun Eddie Darke, cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “The classic car show had an incredibly successful first year and it is exciting to see so much attention for it again this time around.

“Cars from all over the world will be on display and it’s a great opportunity to come and enjoy a day at the coast, for free.”

The event, organised by North Tyneside Council and supported by Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade, also has children’s entertainment, music and refreshments.

Owners will all be on hand to chat about their cars.
