Club's new sports gear
A Wallsend-based youth club are celebrating after police showed they were good sports.
St Paul’s Community Partnership, based at St Paul’s Church in Willington Quay, received new badminton sets from officers after applying to the Northumbria Police Charities Fund.
The youth club is open to any person aged 11 years and over and encourages children to take part in a range sports.
Police Community Support Officer, Sarah Hayton, said: “The guys at St Paul’s do a fantastic job in the community and always give a warm welcome to everyone.”
“Following a visit I made to their Thursday night youth club I noticed their badminton set was very well used but in a very poor condition.
“I made an application to the Northumbria Police’s Charities Fund was very happy when that application was successful and a new badminton set was purchased.
“It was a pleasure to help out and I look forward to attending their next tournament.”
The Northumbria Police Charities Fund helps individuals, organisations and good causes throughout the Northumbria Police area.
