A building society is hoping to spread some Easter joy to less fortunate children and their families.
Staff at the Yorkshire Building Society in Bedford Way, North Shields, are hoping residents and shoppers will donate chocolate and sweet treats which will be given to The Bay Foodbank for a seasonal surprise to add to food parcels.
The Easter collection is on through March.
Nick Turnbull, branch manager, said: “The Bay Foodbank does fantastic work to help local people in financial difficulty and we want to support their efforts by adding seasonal items to their parcels during Easter.
“I hope people in North Shields will pay us a visit, whether they’re a customer or not, to donate an item or two to the collection and help bring a smile to children and families in the town.”
The Bay Foodbank aims to provide emergency food provision to individuals or families experiencing a financial crisis.
Rev Alan Dickinson, chairman of The Bay Foodbank, said: “It’s thanks to the generosity of donations that we’re able to provide such a service to people in the local community. We can’t thank Yorkshire Building Society enough.”
The Bedford Way branch of Yorkshire Building Society is open to accept donations of chocolate and sweet treats weekdays 9am to 5pm, Wednesday 9.30am to 5pm and on Saturday 9am to noon.
