TWO colleges opened their doors to welcome the new pupils who started this term.
Both TyneMet College and Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College welcomed new and returning students to their Freshers’ Day, with goody bags and information being handed out as well as food and refreshments.
College staff were on hand to answer questions about the courses or student finance, while staff from NESA (North East Sports Academy) talked about the facilities at the colleges and the opportunities available to students.
Denise Bolton, head of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College, said: “Freshers’ Day was a huge success; the students interacted and engaged with all of the stallholders and were able to get easy access to some important information that will help them during their time here.”
Sam Haley, director of learning services at TyneMet College, said: “It is important that all students at TyneMet College receive advice and guidance that will support them during their time here.
“Students should be able to enjoy their college experience and be introduced to the many extra curricula activities we have on offer.”
