Communities urged to bid for cash grant

A FUND has been launched to support new and existing groups in helping their communities.

North Tyneside Council has started the £100k Big Society Community Investment Fund with grants from £50 to £10,000 to help get people more involved, take responsibility and bring about change in their neighbourhoods.

Mayor Linda Arkley said: “We are really excited about launching this fund to support the people out there who want to get involved and do something to improve things in their area.

“We already have so many examples of ‘Big Society’ in action and we want to encourage more people to get together with their neighbours to do something amazing.”

The council is also offering additional help to any groups who have had little or no experience of writing bids before.
