Community centre makes an appeal for donations

A COMMUNITY centre in the borough is planning a number of events in a bid to raise money to balance their finances.

The Linskill Centre, on Linskill Terrace in North Shields, is appealing for good quality raffle and tombola prizes, such as unwanted gifts or unused items that can be sold to raise funds at events throughout the year.

In the next few months there will also be a Pampered Chef cookery show on Saturday, March 31, as well as Easter and summer fairs, and a charity golf tournament, and auction night in September and October respectively.

In addition the centre is already preparing to hold their annual book fair, which will take place on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, and they are looking for donations of any books people are willing to part with.

Anyone who has anything to donate for the book fair, or raffle/tombola, or who would like more information about the events being planned at the centre, can email or call (0191) 257 8000.

Alternatively, people are free to leave their donations at reception or find out more at
