A community group is to outline their plans for 2016.

Residents are being invited to find out what Whitley Bay Big Local has planned for the town in the coming year after gathering feedback from more than 500 people.

Their AGM will take place on Saturday between 5pm and 8pm at Noir, in East Parade.

Chairman Jess Burns said: “We are now entering our third year and having made some good progress in the first couple of years, we are keen to share with everyone some of the work that has taken place and a selection of the ideas that have been developed.

“Hundreds of people have shared their thoughts and ideas and it’s very encouraging to see so many living and working in our town are keen to play their part and ensure that Whitley Bay becomes an even better place for everyone.”

Among the ideas being developed, Whitley Bay Big Local will be looking at creating and installing a range of iconic seafront street furniture, working with volunteers on a tree and shrub-planting project, and supporting the expansion of existing initiatives.

The meeting will also showcase achievements including the awarding of more than 20 Small Sparks grants and small-scale volunteer-led projects.

Jess added: “As well as finding out more about what Big Local is up to and the many things that are happening in our town, the AGM is a great opportunity to meet other people and make new friends.”

A leaflet has been produced to give a brief overview of Whitley Bay Big Local’s plans for the coming 12 months; copies will be available at the AGM and will also be delivered to residents in the Big Local area or can be picked up from the Big Local shop on Park View.
