A conference is bringing together organisations and key stakeholders in the battle against mesothelioma.

The Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund is holding its annual Action Mesothelioma Day conference on Friday, July 1, in the Council Chambers at Gateshead Civic, Regent Street, Gateshead.

The day brings together patients, carers, health and legal professionals, along with mesothelioma charities, asbestos victims support groups and trade unions, for a greater understanding of the disease, information on treatment, options research projects and current campaigns.

Mesothelioma experts from across the UK are attending this important event.

Tea and coffee will be available from 10am, with the first speaker at 10.20am. There will be a light lunch and the event closes at 3.30pm with a sponsored dove release in memory of those lost to the cancer.

The free event is open to anyone affected by mesothelioma and their families, plus health and legal professionals and trade unions. Those wishing to attend or sponsor the dove release or leave a message in memory of a loved one, should contact Chris Knighton on 07706 469111 or email
