Council’s new kiosk to open this summer

Visitors to Cullercoats Bay will be able to enjoy refreshing ice creams, drinks and snacks from a new beach kiosk opening soon.

The wooden-clad kiosk, at the bottom of the ramp leading down to the beach, will replace the former ‘blue hut’ at the site, and will now be open daily from April to October, and during weekends and holidays outside of these dates.

North Tyneside Council has worked with residents and fishermen when putting together plans for the facilities.

Mayor for North Tyneside, Norma Redfearn, said: “Cullercoats Bay is a particularly beautiful part of our stunning coastline and always attracts a high number of visitors during the busy summer season.

“When I listened to residents it was clear that they wanted us to provide a kiosk and toilet facilities for Cullercoats Bay. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to deliver the kiosk in time for the busiest part of the summer holiday period.”

An accessible toilet will be added at the site later in the summer, once full power and water supplies are in place.

The toilet facilities will be regularly maintained and will be free of charge.
