NORTH Tyneside Council has improved a section on its website to help residents prepare for winter.
The new look section – www.northtyneside.gov.uk/winter – features information from organisations, explains what help is available and features winter tips.
Advice includes how to check if electric blankets are safe, where to access help with heating costs, and how to stay safe on the road in bad weather. Also included is updated information such as when roads are being gritted and if services are affected by the weather.
Mayor Linda Arkley said: “The problems caused by severe winter weather can often prove to be a real challenge. The council and its partners work hard to try and ensure services are able to continue as normal wherever possible.
“Residents can do their bit by making sure they’re prepared too. We’ve included information that can help people do this. One of the most important things we can all do at this time of year is to check on elderly friends and neighbours.”
