A popular free summer fair is returning to Whitley Bay with more on offer.
The Whitley Lodge Community Spirit (WLCS) Summer Fair is taking place on Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm at the Whitley Lodge Shopping Centre and nearby grassed area.
There will be a range of children’s activities, music, food, local craft businesses, activities including sand art in the community centre at Whitley Lodge First School.
Face painters and superheroes will also be in attendance, as well as games, bouncy castle, entertainment from the Bee Ritchie Band and dance group the Maddi Dolls, tombola and more.
Food on offer includes the Lodge Willow Tree Café, Pantrini’s fish and chips, Scream for Pizza, Papa Ganoush, Tynemouth Coffee Co, fresh crepes from La Petite Creperie and the Pimms Van team for adults.
The event has been organised by Whitley Lodge Community Spirit, a non-profit organisation committed to raising funds for the local Whitley Lodge community.
John Evans, WLCS event manager and owner of The Treehouse, said: “We hope the local community will support us as they do every year and come along to enjoy the day!
“It is incredible to think here we still are all these years later building a bigger fair offering for 2017 with family favourites Animal Antics & Hopscotch Entertainment supporting us once again”
Canon Sue Hart, Reader at St Mary’s Parish Church and chairman of WLCS, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming all to this year’s fair.”
“Organising the fair is a fabulous example of community effort with continuous support and commitment from the local Lodge businesses, volunteers and residents.”
Volunteers from the Whitley Lodge businesses, St Mary’s Church and residents within the area run WLCS with new members welcome.
Recent WLCS purchases have included the defibrillator for the use by the wider Whitley Lodge community and is kept in Tesco.
