I applaud Mr Mclellan’s letter, (News Guardian, February 18).
At the outset I was very much against the proposed cycle path on Broadway at Tynemouth, but now it is nearing completion I am even more aggrieved.
The standard of work leaves a lot to be desired, coupled with the damage to the grass verges. However, the safety factor is the most worrying aspect.
The residents on Broadway are required to reverse their vehicles across the cycle path, and passengers alighting from the bus have to negotiate the path to reach the pavement – an accident waiting to happen.
It will be interesting to see how much is made of this new addition and whether it warrants the amount of money it has cost, whoever is paying for it.
