Brave climbers are being recruited to take part in a unique ‘rock’ climb to raise money for Children in Need.

Event organisers are calling on people from the borough to join the captain of the DFDS King Seaways together with volunteers from Port of Tyne to scale the side of the ship.

The climb will take place on Thursday, November 14, at the International Passenger Terminal in North Shields.

Participants will start at the bottom of the ship and scale a special 24-metre climbing wall to the ship’s deck.

DFDS Seaways passenger director Max Foster said: “We are hoping to not only scale new heights, but also to raise a substantial amount of funds.”
