Consultation is taking place over plans to improve urgent care provision in North Tyneside.

Four potential options have been drawn up – a single urgent care centre at North Tyneside General Hospital; a single centre at Battle Hill; a single centre at the hospital, support by three services in Killingworth, Wallsend and Whitley Bay; or a single centre at Battle Hill supported by centres in Killingworth, North Shields and Whitley Bay.

The consultation ends on January 21. For more visit or call 0191 217 2670.

Dr Shaun Lackey, North Tyneside GP and chair of the Urgent Care Working Group, said: “Hundreds of people have already shared their views and we want to make sure that everyone has a chance to have their say.”

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve healthcare services for people in North Tyneside.

“As part of this process, we recently began a review into local urgent care services.”
