Detectives probing thefts appeal for witnesses

victims of car crime are being urged to come forward following the arrest of two suspected thieves.

Police were called to Medway Gardens in North Shields after two men were seen acting suspiciously around parked cars.

On looking into the report, they found that property had been stolen from several cars on the night of Sunday, March 6.

Inquiries are ongoing, and officers have recovered some suspected stolen property.

They are now asking motorists to check their vehicles to see if anything has been taken.

Dc Mick Todd, of Wallsend CID, said: “We are asking for help from the public to find the owners of some property we have recovered.

“If you think you have suffered a theft, please contact us.”

Two men, aged 43 and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and bailed pending further inquiries.
