Doctors and nurses help plan health services

A NEW clinically-led NHS organisation, which will be responsible for the planning of North Tyneside’s health services, will take on their new role from next week.

From April 1, NHS North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), led by family doctors and other medical staff, will become a new legal body with a budget of approximately £280m to invest in local hospital and community health services.

The CCG represents 29 GP practices and will commission healthcare services for the borough.

Dr John Matthews, clinical chairman for NHS North Tyneside CCG, said: “We’re really excited to be taking on our new role, and as doctors, nurses and other medical professions working across different parts of the local NHS, we have close relationships with patients.”
