Longbenton cadets recognised as best squadron in the UK.

Youngsters at 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron were among the stars in documentaries looking at the squadron’s own 60th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets.

The short production – ‘Longbenton Squadron: A Diamond Legacy’ – looks at how the air cadet squadron has developed over the last six decades.

There are contributions from former and current cadets, with the documentary fondly looking back on memories, activities and technologies.

The full documentary was given a red-carpet showing on February 7, when the formation of the organisation was nationally celebrated.

King George VI formed the Air Training Corps, by Royal Warrant, on February 5, 1941.

Longbenton Squadron is currently open to new members in Year 8 and above.
