Don’t pick flowers

I WAS extremely annoyed to come across a father encouraging his two young children to steal the daffodils growing alongside the main road near Battle Hill.

He had a plastic carrier bag with about 30 or more daffodils inside and was collecting even more from the children.

When I told him he should not be encouraging the children to steal, he said he wasn’t stealing.

I assured him he was stealing from the council and denying our enjoyment of the lovely sight.

He didn’t like that and used bad language directed at me in front of his children.

Surely we don’t have to erect signs to say don’t pick the flowers, or walk on the grass – we all know what belongs to who.
