Whitley Warriors suffered a heavy defeat in North Wales on Sunday evening as Deeside Dragons won 8-2 in their NIHL North Division 1game.

The visitors were able to include teenage forward Jamie Ord in their squad for the first time as the youngster is now eligible to play senior hockey after he turned 16 recently.

Just 52 seconds into the game Whitley took the lead through Ben Richards. But the home side equalised on five minutes through their own player-coach Scott McKenzie, and then took the lead seven minutes later when McKenzie was once again on target.

Deeside extended their lead to 3-1 through Filip Supa and Dragons grabbed another before the end of the first period when James Parsons found the net. Warriors pulled one back through Jordan Barnes but Deeside made it 5-2 shortly afterwards.

The final period saw Wigglesworth net one and Parsons a further two as he completed his hat-trick for the home side.

Warriors take on Telford Tigers away on Saturday before facing Solway Sharks at home on Sunday.
