A woman who crashed her car into a lamp-post while more than double the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads.
Kelly Conley, from Wallsend, was making a late-night visit to a friend’s house when the accident happened on the A19 in Jarrow.
She was spotted by police near her car at the scene and arrested after failing a roadside breath test.
The 30-year-old admitted driving with excess alcohol when she appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
Janice Bellamy, prosecuting, said; “At 11.40pm police were called to the A19 in Jarrow.
“A Ford Focus had crashed into a lamp-post. The defendant had got out of her car and was 100 metres away when she was spoken to by a police officer.
“Conley recorded a reading of 74mcg of alcohol in breath – more than two times over the legal limit of 35mcg.”
