Drop-in advice for community groups

Community groups in North Tyneside are being invited to share their ideas for 2014 and find out how they can give their finances a boost.

North Tyneside Voluntary Organisations Development Agency (VODA) is holding its first ever drop-in day for voluntary and community organisations in the borough on Wednesday, February 26.

Voluntary and community groups and registered charities can meet members of the VODA team for a chat about their organisation and ideas, get help with funding applications and find out about training and development opportunities.

The drop-in, which is taking place at the Shiremoor Centre in Earsdon Road from 2pm to 7pm, is a chance to find out about the help that VODA are able to offer to volunteers and charities in the borough.

Elizabeth Grace, development co-ordinator at VODA, said: “Some of the groups we helped in 2013 had great success and we’re excited by the prospect of helping more community organisations in 2014.

“Our drop-in is ideal for anyone who wants to talk about a community project or idea and needs a bit of help or guidance with finding grants or increasing the number of people involved with their group.

“A lot of local community groups need help deciding on how to set-up or want to know how they can increase their membership. We’re more than happy to help.”

Anyone who is unable make the day can call (0191) 643 2626 for more details.
