Drop-in event to highlight apprenticeship changes
An information event is being held to help North East bosses maximise opportunities around apprenticeship chances.
It takes place at AIS Connect’s £2.5million state-of-the-art academy in North Shields on Tuesday, February 28, from 8.30am to 11am.
The free event is open to all regional employers and will help companies make sense of the new apprenticeship levy and new funding rules which will become law in seven weeks.
The new rules will also see age restrictions being removed and a levy system introduced for companies with an annual wage bill of more than £3million.
To book a place contact (0191) 341 0250, visit http://ais-connect.co.uk/news/categories/latest or email firstname.lastname@example.org
The event includes presentations by George Ritchie MBE, Chairman of the North-East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network and Associate Director at PX Group, Rob Storey and Kate Lovelock, from AIS Connect, and Anthony Mills, from East Durham College.
There will also be an opportunity to find out about a unique apprenticeship offer developed by AIS Connect with East Durham College.
The event concludes with a networking opportunity, a tour of AIS’s world-class industrial training village and free refreshments.
Rob Storey, head of education at AIS Connect, said: “We know many businesses are still unclear about the new apprenticeship changes being introduced in the Spring and how this affects them.
“Just last week a City and Guilds’ survey showed that 33 per cent of employers liable to pay the Government’s new apprenticeship levy know very little about it.
“Hopefully our event will help to shed light on the new rules and highlight the opportunities available to help companies grow their business by developing a talented workforce for the future.”
