Carnival spirit was drumming to the right beat during a special workshop held in Whitley Bay.
Ahead of the end of the summer holidays, the Brazilian themed event proved a hit.
Following on from Brazil themed events after this year’s FIFA World Cup, ‘Make a Noise’ Youth Samba School helped bring the Brazilian carnival spirit to the Yoga Station at Whitley Bay Metro Station.
The Whitley Bay Big Local Partnership helped the school perfect the samba beat with free workshops in drumming and dance over two days.
Led by one of the region’s top percussionists, Nik Alevroyiannis, the ‘Make a Noise’ sessions were open to anyone aged under 25 – whether a samba expert or an absolute beginner.
Whitley Bay Big Local is a Big Lottery funded ten-year community initiative led by volunteers to help boost the seaside town.
