PC World Business is inviting teachers from the North Shields area to its education show on Wednesday in the Currys PC World North Shields store in Silverlink Retail Park.

It is the first time such an immersive hands-on event has been held in the region, and saves local teachers the trouble of trekking to larger national events.

The Education Show is a chance for teachers to experiment with the latest technology, learn more about how it can be used in the classroom for various purposes, and share experiences with each other, while learning from specialists from tech giants including Google, Microsoft and Acer.

Teachers will be taken round in small groups to several different demo stands with industry representatives chatting about education specific technology and showcasing how it can be used in the classroom.

The event starts with refreshments at 3.30pm, and teachers are welcome to drop in at any time until 7pm. There is no charge for attendance and there will also be a chance to win a £500 Currys PC World gift card.

Mark Proctor, North Shields business adviser for PC World Business, said: “We’re really keen to give teachers a first look at technology.

“Usually, this would fall to IT specialists, but as teachers will be the ones using and teaching with it, it’s important they feel completely comfortable and are up to date with how they can use the latest tools and devices.

“This is why we are organising this Education Show in North Shields.”
