Family-friendly Easter arts and crafts sessions were held at The Forum, in Wallsend, and North Shields’ The Beacon shopping centres in partnership with Craft Yourself Silly.

Children were invited to make personalised Easter cards and decorate Easter eggs for their friends and families. Centre staff were on hand to hand out bunny ears and bonnets, while mini eggs and other Easter treats were shared with all.

In addition, Easter prizes were up for grabs for the best decorated egg and card.

Four stand-out card and egg designs were selected, with Maisy Rowell, 4, winning the prize for the best decorated egg and Frazer Lancaster, 9, winning the prize for the best Easter card at The Forum.

At the Beacon, Noah Crass, 4, won the prize for the best decorated egg and Josh Wilson, 7, won the prize for the best Easter card.

David Menzies, centre manager at The Beacon Shopping Centre, said: “The children brightened up the centre and it really looked like Easter had arrived.

“We had a great time handing out mini eggs and seeing both adults and children taking part enthusiastically in the Easter festivities.”

Nick Lambert, centre manager at The Forum Shopping Centre, said: “Easter is a busy period for the centre and the holiday period saw shoppers scout for some of the best Easter bargains our retailers had on offer.

“The arts and crafts activity was a hit amongst families, with children clearly enjoying creating their own personalised tokens to celebrate Easter.”
