Entries sought in community recognition

Nominations are being sought for members of the public who have gone the extra mile to help their community.

Entries are being taken for the Chairman’s Community Commendation Awards, organised by North Tyneside Council.

Residents are being asked to nominate those they think deserve an aware for their voluntary service in the borough, with successful nominees being invited to an award ceremony at the council’s Quadrant headquarters in early June.

Coun chairman Coun Frank Lott said: “We know there are hundreds of people in North Tyneside who regularly give their time to others, making a significant contribution to their local community.

“These awards celebrate and recognise their fantastic work.”

Nominees can be any age and do not have to live in the borough, but the activities for which they are nominated must take place within the borough.

Entries must be received by Friday, May 10.
