Equipment for community group

A RESIDENTS group will be able to continue its activities thanks to a donation of equipment from the Northumbria Police Charities Fund.

Kings Road Residents’ Association in Wallsend hosts a wide range of community activities but lacked a hi-fi system or a good sized television.

The association regularly hosts line dancing, Zumba and pilates sessions, a mums and toddlers group, art class, judo, ladies group and a breakfast club for primary schoolchildren.

Some of the committee members visited North Tyneside area command to collect the gifts, where they met officers from the Wallsend neighbourhood team, and were given a tour of the police station.

Ken Gibson, association chairman, said: “I would like to give a big thank you to Northumbria Police for their generosity.

“We are overwhelmed by the gifts which will enable us to carry on with various activities that benefit the whole community.”
