An art exhibition has raised thousands of pounds for charity to help youngsters.

Emma Nelson held the Art With A Big Open Heart Exhibition at the Exchange, in North Shields, to raise money for Save the Children.

And she was delighted to raise £2,516.66 for the charity, which supports children around the world.

Emma said: “The charity were overjoyed to receive such a great amount, it will go a long way in helping give Syrian children a brighter future and the aid they so desperately need. I hope to hold another exhibition next year. Plans for an online auction and market sale will hopefully help to bring in more money with the remaining arts and crafts.”

“I would like to say a big thank-you to all the local art groups, businesses, artists, craft enthusiasts as well to each and every one who got involved.”

Emma thanked volunteers Michael Dennison, Kim, Caroline Whitaker, Karen Knox, Rachel Derrington, Arthur Wade, Jessica Wade, Carol Dennison, Suzanne Guest, Amanda Robinson, Peter Derrington, Chris Nelson, Helen MacNee, Lesley Thompson, Feena Cunnane, Caroline Suzanne Burke and her daughter Sara.
