Female shop worker threatened by knife-wielding robber

Five people have been arrested following an armed robbery on a shop.

A female employee at Rosehill General Store, in Northumberland Terrace, Wallsend, was threatened by a man armed with a kitchen knife just after 9am on Friday, November 27.

The robber fled out the shop with a small quantity of cash and cigarettes.

Nobody was injured during the robbery but the employee was left very shaken.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and officers have arrested three men – aged 35, 34, 33 – and a 17-year-old male on suspicion of robbery.

A 34-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All five suspects remain in police custody at this time.

Extra patrols are in the area to carry out investigations and reassure any concerned members of the public.
