Young and old came together to celebrate a special festival.
The North Tyneside Bangladeshi Community Association and Mosque celebrated the festival of ‘eid il fitr’ – a celebration associated with the end of Ramadan.
The event, held at the Station Masters’ Gardens at Whitley Bay Station on July 26, attracted more than 200 people of all faiths and included a barbecue, face painting, bouncy castle, henna art, scarf stalls, ice cream and more.
President of the mosque, Shueb Miah, said he was pleased of the success of the festival, and hoped to hold other festivals on a lager scale involving the wider communities.
One of the volunteers and organisers Firuz Miah said: “This was an excellent way of integrating communities.”
