A host of activities are continuing to keep youngsters entertained during the school holidays.

Tynemouth Station has a special activity area for children under five years as part of North Tyneside’s Summer Festival.

Running until Friday, August 7, sessions take place at 10am and 11.15am.

Each day will feature different activities including storytelling, art and craft workshops, messy play, music and dance.

Numbers are limited and, with places on a first come first served basis, people are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

There will also be live jazz performances by local groups in the afternoons between 1pm and 4pm each day.

The new Spanish City Plaza and temporary inflatable Dome in Whitley Bay is also hosting a programme of events.

The plaza area will see daily live music performances from 11am until 3pm and there will also be a Kite Show on Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, between 11am and 3pm.

Inside the inflatable Dome, there will be a Mini Roller Rink offering free roller skating for children four years and over.

The rink will be open 11am to 6pm until Monday, August 10, and skates are available in a range of sizes.

Future events scheduled at Tynemouth Station and the Plaza during the summer include; princess appearances, live music, Punch and Judy shows, street entertainers fresh from Edinburgh Fringe Festival, film screenings and LEGO workshops.
