Christmas is just around the corner and North Tyneside has it all wrapped up with a bumper programme of festive fun for all the family to enjoy.
Our wonderful Winter Festival is packed with fantastic events making Christmas in North Tyneside really special.
The ever popular traditional Christmas markets and fairs are returning and there are buskers and carol singers, pantomimes, free screenings of favourite festive films, Santa and his reindeers and even a fun mini ice rink at Tynemouth Station for all to enjoy.
Full details of everything on offer can be found in the Winter Festival brochure available in local libraries, community centres, council buildings and customer first centres or online at www.visitnorthtyneside.com
I’m pleased to report that shoppers and traders are receiving an early Christmas present after the council and shopping centre owners NewRiver Retail joined forces to provide lots of free parking in our town centres from December 1 until Christmas Eve.
So with free parking and so many fantastic things to see and do there’s no reason to go anywhere else for shopping and fun this Christmas – North Tyneside really does have it all.
As mayor I’m always out and about visiting people and places and I’ve been honoured to meet some really special individuals who do truly incredible things.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing unpaid volunteers who give up their precious time to help others and our business people who strive to bring more jobs to the borough.
May I wish everyone the very best for the festive season and I hope you have a prosperous New Year.
