Dozens of firefighters were called to tackle a fire at a house in Whitley Bay.
Emergency services were called to Cambridge Avenue at 12.17am today (Thursday) after a fire broke out in the loft of the property.
The blaze had spread to the first floor.
Up to 28 firefighters from Tynemouth, Wallsend, Byker and West Denton attended the scene after reports of people believed to be in the property.
But after a search of the building, no one was found.
A Tyne and Wear fire service spokeswoman said: “At the time of the call it was believed that people were in the property.
“Once in attendance it was believed that one person was still unaccounted for.
“Following a thorough search of the building no persons were involved.”
