Five men left in hospital after street fight

Six men have been arrested following an altercation which left five men in hospital.

Police were called to St Stephen’s Way in Percy Main just after 5pm on Monday, March 23, following reports of a disturbance.

Three men were taken to North Tyneside General Hospital for treatment and a further two to the RVI in Newcastle.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Six men have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident.

Acting Detective Inspector for major crime investigation, Tony Scott, said: “Investigations into the incident are ongoing and we’re keen to speak to any witnesses.

“We’re asking for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to help to contact us.

“Officers are in the area carrying out enquiries and speaking with residents.”
